Pratika Rawal (154) and Smriti Mandhana (135) stood out as Team India over India achieved a monumental victory of 304 runs over Ireland. In what was the final ODI at Rajkot, India broke the record of ODI victories with this defeat of Ireland. By achieving an impressive score of 435/5,
India was able to secure the win while being able to tear apart the record books. This also led to India being able to win in the previous record which stood at 370/5 which was made just three days earlier. Hence this lead to India breaking the record of their largest margin of victory on home soil and what was more impressive is that it was achieved by crossing the 400 mark figre for the first time.
India achieved a score of 435/5 and naturally expected Ireland to stand up but that was not the case as Ireland was only able to defend his score for around 31.4 overs. Ireland lost the match while being able to only score 131 with only four batters standing up to achieve a double figure.
The first innings had left a mark and that is when Mandhana lost the toss again. Rawal’s and her fourth century partnerships in six innings left the bowlers on Ireland’s end terribly flustered as they amassed an impressive 233 runs. While Rawal played a rather more subdued role in comparison to Mandhana’s bat smashing assault, he still had been rather forceful with his words. Mandhana, in the meanwhile, continued her streak of success as she landed seven sixes in the course of her 80 ball innings. Oddly enough, even after being used repeatedly in the course of the series, the pitch proved to be very satisfactory for the batters.
The dodgy line and the left-right combination alongside the batters different approaches all proved a bit too much for Ireland’s bowlers to handle, which in turn allowed for a flurry of boundaries to be scored and even made it possible for a marathon opening stand to effectively be initiated by a buffet ball. What followed certainly was worthy of being termed troubling, as Mandhana needlessly clipped a rather harmless delivery down the legs and instead of being as menacing for others as she had hoped, ended up giving a straight ball for a short and much better leg fielder. In order to keep momentum India started pushing Ghosh, who although underwhelmed, still managed to score 59 in 42 deliveries.
Rawal maintained her outstanding performance, and she appeared to be in good form during the match since she incorporated more ball timing and placement rather than brute strength. The girl seemed to have absolutely defied expectations this time as she managed to turn the mark of 150 in score after failing twice to cross the three-figure mark. With just 6 overs to go, India had already exceeded their previous best ODI score by 17 runs, when she turned up with a tired stroke. The final six overs were less productive than I had hoped, with only 48 runs being scored among the chaos that was already raging earlier.
Stepping onto the cricket pitch, Ireland knew that 436 was a score just too high for them. Given the nature of the pitch and the match’s unusual twists and turns, they perhaps could have scored 275, approaching 300 with some luck on their side. But unfortunately, their batting unit caved in thanks primarily to the earlier bowling attack they faced during the day. After managing to score 64, Sarah Forbes and Orla Prendergast helped set a target of 43 runs with Prendergast scoring 36 runs off 43 balls and Forbes not out on 41 runs from 44 balls. Deepti Sharma had other thoughts nonetheless, handing Ireland another spectacular victory while scoring 3 for 27. follow 1xbetfair.vip for latest cricket News.
