Introduction
Shreyas Iyer, captain of Punjab Kings, stated that he hopes to bat at No.3 in the upcoming season of Indian Premier League, which could help Iyer be included in the India T20I squad. His debut season with Punjab Kings during the T20 world cup in 2026 may help the Indian team consider him for the shortest format.

“Everybody is quite well aware that the Indian Premiere League is one the most imperative tournaments in India. If I were to nominate myself for any place in T20, my preference would be number 3. That is exactly what I am working towards right now. Usually, I would not say that we are planning and anticipating where I will be batting on the order. This time, I am very certain about that my focused position, and I will work hard to achieve that. Provided, of course, the coach allows that,” he stated.
After winning the IPL with Kolkata Knight Riders last year, Iyer expressed joy in reuniting with Ricky Ponting after their shared years with the Delhi Capitals.
For the past three years, I had been working for a franchise and had an employer who as time went by, I grew accustomed to their way of thinking, so understanding their perspective on and off the field was not difficult. His support was comprehensive. At first, It struck me how different my approach was towards senior-junior relationships within the workspace.
I recall the first time I worked with him. He made me feel appreciated as a player which allowed for effortless transitions into different frameworks in the world of sports.
This man is out of this world,” said Iyer. “And I like him for that. There can be shifts in results, but he remains unfazed and thinks equally. His sheer love for winning is unparalleled,” Iyer recalled. In his eyes, why did he agree to work with the Australian great? “Winning the trophy is the most important thing. And the beauty of it all? (The IPL has never been won by Punjab) Their lack of having won it before provides a lot of freedom in not having any restrictions,” he explained. For more Latest Sports Update, Click Here
