Virat Kohli is now heading to Delhi to meet the Delhi Ranji Trophy team after training at Alibaug, a beach town close to Mumbai, for almost a week.
The ace batter trained very hard on the batting technique with Sanjay Bangar, the former India batting coach at one of the Reliance cricket facilities in Alibaug. Kohli has also recently opened a 10,000 square foot holiday house in this beautiful coastal town which, geographically, falls in Raigad district of Maharashtra.
A video of Bangar training Kohli, with whom he used to work while Kohli was part of the Indian team and the Royal Challengers Bangalore, has gone viral and has created some doubts if the session was done at the Mumbai nets facility. It has now come to light that they were indeed working at a property in Alibaug.
Bangar and Kohli working on Kohli’s batting technique should come to no surprise as some of his best international performances have come while he was under Bangar’s tenure as the batting coach of the Indian team.
Between 2014 – 19 when Bangar was the Indian team’s batting coach, Kohli scored 11767 runs with 41 hundreds in all formats. He was considered the best batter in the world during that period.
Recently, Kohli’s batting has come under fire because he has not been performing at his best. Even though he scored a century, he only managed to score a mere 190 runs during the five BGT Tests in Australia. This has led to calls for his dismissal.
The same can be said of the Indian captain Rohit Sharma who is also definitely performing badly, even worse than Kohli, which has led people to question whether these two senior batsmen should continue being a part of the national squad.
Currently, both Kohli and Rohit will still be part of the Indian team because there are Champions Trophy. However, the manner of dismissal that Kohli frequently gets out has led to severe gaps of skill set in his technique. In preparation for the Ranji game, he trained along with Bangar for nearly a week before going to Delhi where he will participate for his home state. Delhi borders Railways and will play elite group D match at Arun Jaitley Stadium starting January 30. More Details, Visit Here
Over the past 13 years, Kohli has participated in any Ranji match. His last domestic first class match was against Uttar Pradesh in November 2012. Now, speaking to the media he confirms that compliant to BCCI directive, he has to play in this domestic fixture, which many other internationals also seem to have complied with in recent times. Delhi, who are currently 6th on the points board and are out of contention for a 6th place out of the Railway Division, AK Sharma’s men stand in 4th place and are hopeful to grab a berth into the knockouts. Leaving that aside, Kohli’s batting performance will be in the limelight. More Details, Visit 1xbetfair
