The BCCI will create a strategy to prepare players for the England Tests during the IPL

Indian players may have to balance several duties during the next season of the Indian Premier League( IPL). It is highly doubtful that the entire duration of two months will be completely white-washed, as players may have to do some red ball work as well. The BCCI is considering a method where players do not lose contact with Test cricket, the red ball format, during IPL. Most probably, players will have to do some red ball drills or something more specialized that should be designed for them. Point is, the BCCI wants to stop the unprecedented string of defeats that has plagued five-day games. The IPL will run from March 22 to May 25, and the first Test at Headingly will commence on June 20.

The specifics of the plan’s execution are sensitive, but two initial steps regarding the overlapping system have already been scheduled. Dubai served as one of the venues for meetings between the Indian team management and BCCI planners as the players are currently participating in the Champions Trophy which is being held there.

DC at the top, but their best is yet to come

Following the India-Pakistan match on Sunday in Dubai, the decision-makers briefly touched upon the roadmap regarding mixed activities. After the Champions Trophy wraps up on March 9, further meetings are anticipated. The IPL is set to take the stage less than two weeks after that.

The BCCI’s stance is to avoid micromanaging players’ duties and responsibilities towards their franchises during the IPL. However, the pattern of India’s losses in away series against England after the IPL, with one exception, has not eluded the board’s analysis. Take for instance, the series of 2011 had an outcome of 4-0, the 2014 series had the home team winning 3-1, and in 2018, India lost 4-1.

The final result of the last series in 2021, which was affected by COVID, saw a split in looks, saw a 2-2 draw. India used to lead 2-1 before Covid interrupted during the summer of 2021.
