According to the statement released on February 11, BCCI confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah’s lower back injury means he will not participate in the 2025 Champions Trophy that India is set to host. With Bumrah missing out on the eight-team tournament, Harshit Rana has been assigned as his replacement.
While in Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, Bumrah suffered a back strain in the Sydney test which prevented him from participating in the latter half of the match. While he was set to captain the ODI against England that was supposed to be played second, he has yet to fully recover so he was not included in the final squad.

With Jaiswal departing from the final roster, Indian selectors added Chakravarthy in hopes of him turning up as the x-factor. After replacing him as the spinner in the ToI against England, he made a statement by taking 14 wickets and topping the leaderboard. Making his ODI debut against England in the second game, Chakravarthy ended the match with a line of 1-54.
Rana is a new name in the international arena, having made his debut during the Border-Gavaskar series in November 2024. He has so far participated in two Tests, two ODIs, and one T20I, and is the first Indian to take three wickets in his debut match across Tests, T20Is, and ODIs.
In the meantime, Jaiswal, alongside Mohammed Siraj and Shivam Dube, is one of the non-traveling reserves, and the three will go to Dubai as needed.
India, who is part of Group A, will start their campaign on February 20 against Bangladesh, followed by a match with Pakistan on February 23. They will face New Zealand in their last group match on March 2, with all three matches hosted by Dubai. read more sports update click 1xbetfair
