If we beat India but don’t win tournament: Before IND vs PAK Champions Trophy Match; Pakistan’s vice-captain’s big statement

IND vs PAK Champions Trophy Match

Salman Ali Agha, the vice-captain of the Pakistan Team, has stated that even if it means sacrificing wins against India, he still opts for victory in Champions Trophy 2025. The epic faceoff between India and Pakistan is scheduled for February 23 in Dubai. However, for Agha, the primary focus is winning the trophy.

Agha elaborated on his position saying that Pakistan beating India in an ODI World Cup game would be monumental. Then he paused and added that if India defeats Pakistan in the tournament, that endeavor will become meaningless. He argues that there are far bigger fish to fry. The men in green for their part begin with the New Zealand match on February 19, then they will take on India on February 23 at the Dubai international stadium. Rizwan’s brigade will then battle Bangladesh in their final group stage game on February 27.

“It is a great feeling knowing that Pakistan is hosting the Champions Trophy. There is something special about the country hosting an ICC event. Being from Lahore, winning the tournament in my city would be an incredible achievement. The Pakistani team can win this trophy,” Salman said on the PCB podcast.

“I am looking forward to the Champions Trophy-Pakistan. If the ICC event flag comes to Pakistan, it’s special. As a local from Lahore, it’s my childhood fantasy to win the ICC trophy and bring it home. The Pakistan team has the ability to win,” said Salman in the PCB Podcast.

The 31-year-old is task with monumental responsibility as the captain’s assistant of the eight-nation tournament. On being asked about his feelings regarding the appointment, he confessed that he is enjoying cricket as well as the new responsibility. He indicated that vice-captaincy comes with new responsibilities, but also some leniency.

“Being the vice-captain, there is responsibility, but also a sense of freedom. The victories in Australia and South Africa boosted my confidence a lot and I tend to prepare myself thoroughly the night before the match,” he concluded. for more latest cricket update; click here
