The Indian Captain, Rohit Sharma, made a brilliant century in an ODI match versus England in Cuttack last Sunday. This performance by Rohit helped the Indian side win the series one game early. He tore the English bowlers apart to help the hosts chase 305 runs and in the process win the match with 33 balls remaining. This victory also helped them win the series 2-0.

For his brilliant innings, Rohit won the Player of the Match award and claimed that he divided his innings into components so that he could adapt better in the limited-overs format.
“I really enjoyed being out there scoring some runs for the team. It was an important game with the series on the line and I did everything possible to aid my side. I broke it into pieces how I wanted to bat. I also set myself a target of how many runs I would get. It’s a format that is longer than T20 cricket and a lot shorter than Tests. Still, you need to assess and bat according to the situation. But I was very clear in my mind how deep I want to bat and maintain my focus,” said the Indian captain.

Rohit was well supported by Shubman Gill, who opened the innings with him and scored 60 runs, as well as Shreyas Iyer, who added 44 runs later on.
“I found the gaps and of course, I received great assistance from Gill and subsequently Shreyas,” the captain said.
“We share a good bond while batting. Gill is class. He is someone I have come to know well and the panic button is not often pressed by him. The numbers are there as well if I’m not wrong,” Rohit expounded.
Rohit highlighted the necessity of execution for the middle overs in the ODI format and stressed that the Indian team’s approach to the mid-part of the innings was decisive in winning the series.
“It’s quite important, the game can go either side. If you manage and squeeze in the middle overs, it helps you not to worry at the death,” said the former skipper.
“In both the game, even in Nagpur, we squeezed in the middle overs and even here we squeezed in the middle overs. When you take wickets in the middle overs, you can contain the opposition,” Rohit said.
As the ICC Champions Trophy approaches, Rohit seems to have regained his form just in time, and he underlined that acknowledging and addressing problems holistically is mandatory for competitive success in premier tournaments face.
“We want to keep getting better as a team. I said after the last match as well, we want to get better and not just as a team but as players,” the opener said.
“I think that the enormity of the task is simplified as soon as a player understands what is expected of him and is willing to execute based on the recommendations of the captain or coach,” he signed off. For read more regarding content about Sports visit 1xbetfair
