India’s joint captain Shubman Gill’s remarkable routine od form in limited overs cricket during his third ODI match of the series against England saw him hit his stunning seventh ODI century. Gill returned to his happy hunting grounds, the Narendra Modi Stadium, in Ahemedabad with promise to preform greatly. At the venue, he scored 1 test and 1 T20I century. Gill has also smashed three centuries at the venue in IPL, where he captains home side Gujarat Titans.

With the support of Virat Kohli who scored 52 runs and made a much needed return to run scoring Gill was able to reach his century in 95 balls while collectively demolishing loose deliveries from the English bowlers. While rebuilding the Indian innings, Gill also punished the loose deliveries from the England bowlers.

The milestone man, who scored over fifty against South Africa, etched his name on the record against England as he became the fastest ODI batter to reach the figure of two thousand five hundred runs. His achievement also surpassed the record for most two thousand five hundred ODI matches played by a South African, where he single-handedly revolutionized the game by completing it in fifty matches, while South African could only achieve it in fifty-three.

Gills marvels did not stop with simply smashing centuries as he became the first player in the history of ODI South Africa to score three fifties in a single bilateral series ODI match. Joining Gill in that feat are only a handful of nameable cricketers from three teams, West Indies, South Africa and England.

Gills flamboyant style was on display as he reached the milestone on mark wood’s delivery of number ninety-five and achieved it with a phenomenal four. Then he took a celebratory bow, which had become an in-game trademark of his while also saluting the fans who had attended the match.

Centuries for King Gill are like the mark of elevation for a single firm and he placed his name in the history books as one of the only four cricketers to achieve that notable feat across every format of the game like Test, ODI or T20. But, perhaps the most remarkable detail of these records is that he is not the first player to achieve them against South Africa.
